Building a Greener Future
Although construction and demolition waste accounts for only six percent of Newfoundland and Labrador's waste stream, it is often problematic, taking up valuable space in a landfill.Construction and demolition (C&D) materials consist of the waste generated during the construction, renovation and demolition of buildings, roads and bridges. This often includes concrete, wood, metals, glass and salvaged building components. Reducing and recycling C&D materials conserves landfill space, reduces the environmental impact of producing new products from virgin materials and has the potential to reduce project expenses by reducing the amount of waste disposed of at landfill.
