RECYCLING PROGRAMS
Paint Recycling Program
In 2010, the Lieutenant-Governor in Council amended the Waste Management Regulations under the Environmental Protection Act to include the establishment of an Extended Producer Responsibility or EPR program for the management of waste paint in Newfoundland and Labrador.
This means that paint manufacturers are responsible for their products from the point of production through to post consumer recycling. Paint producers retailing paint in Newfoundland and Labrador have appointed Product Care Association as the industry steward responsible for operating, administering and managing the paint recycling program on their behalf in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Newfoundland and Labrador Paint recycling Program was officially announced on May 2, 2012. Left over paint collected throughout Newfoundland and Labrador will be recycled into new paint.
Newfoundland and Labrador Paint Collection Locations:
Newfoundlanders and Labradorians can now, in a more convenient and environmentally friendly manner, properly dispose of left-over paint by bringing it to one of the Paint Collections Sites now in place throughout the province.
Accepted Products:
All household paints are accepted along with all types of paint aerosols, and the cans they come in are accepted through the program. For a complete list of paint products accepted through the program, click here.
