3R Hike

Every summer MMSB brings the 3Rs - reduce, reuse and recycle - to the great outdoors through our ongoing partnership with the MUN Botanical Garden and The Fluvarium summer camp programs.

MMSB's Waste Reduction Experts take camp participants on a guided walk in a natural outdoor setting to explore how we can use the 3Rs every day to help keep Newfoundland and Labrador clean and healthy.  Camp participants explore woods trails learning along the way how nature reduces, reuses and recycles everything.  This youth-oriented program lets children discover where on earth everyday products come from and how we can use the 3Rs to lessen our impact on the earth.

Envirokids

MMSB has once again partnered with the Division of Lifelong Learning’s Kids@MUN program to offer our Enviro Kids program for children ages 5-8 and NEW this year ECO-ISLAND for youth ages 9-12.

Registration is still open!  Visit Division of Lifelong Learning to register today!

Enviro-Kids (ages 5-8)
Morning Session
Aug 13-17, 2012
Become an Enviro-Kid and join the mission to discover the natural world and help protect our planet! In this fun-filled week, Enviro-Kids will embark on a journey of fun games and activities as they explore the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) AND composting. Camp participants will enjoy nature hikes, educational games, arts and crafts, and discover organic magic with worms with help from MMSB’s wonderfully wacky waste experts!

Eco-Island (ages 9-12)
Afternoon Session
Jul 16-20, 2012
Eco-Island is a mysterious place that provides us with everything we need to live – food, water, shelter, but it also provides us with lots of things we want too. Campers will learn all about the natural environment by helping the elusive survivors of Eco-Island reduce, reuse, recycle and compost! Campers will send messages in a bottle to the island, and teach the survivors how to keep Eco-Island clean and healthy!
